Archive: Alexandrov Ensemble - Brno
In December this year, Alexandrov Ensemble will play Christmas concert for their Czech fans.
From 1. to 9.12. December Alexandrov Ensemble will visit five Czech and Moravian towns. First two concerts will be in Prague on 1.12. in Tipsport arena, at 3pm and 8pm. Prague Christmas concert will be accompanied by the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra - hundred violins. Next stop will be in CEZ Arena in Ostrava on 3.12. 7.12 Alexandrov will play Kajot Arena Brno and on 8.12. in Budvar Arena in České Budějovice. Final concert will be played in CEZ Arena in Pardubice.
This year's tour will once again feature interesting guests . Invitation has been accepted by famous Czech opera singer Eva Urbanánková and singer Petr Kolář who has already played with Alexandrov Ensemble in the past.
History of the Alexandrov Ensemble
The history dates back to 1928, when ensemble started to perform with only twelve members, led by the Moscow Conservatory Music Professor Alexander Vasilievich Alexandrov, who has become national artist later on.
The ensemble was supposed to encourage tired soldiers in battlefields with their singing and dancing. During the Second World War they played about 1500 performances.
Later, the ensemble expanded to 300 members and became one of the Soviet cultural propaganda tool worldwide, however they have never forgot about the Russian folk songs.
Alexandrov Ensemble is the official Russian Army Ensemble.
Its members are all men, who are selected through many demanding auditions .
Their performances consist of Russian folk songs , religious songs, but also contemporary music.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union they have performed around the world.
