Cabinet of Music I |  Music Collection in Kroměříž Chateau
April 19, 2013 — 2015
Kroměříž Archdiocesan Museum | New Library

This exhibition is focussed on the music performed in Kroměříž Chateau from the time of Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno and his successors (opera performances under Bishop Schrattenbach, Classical repertoire of the court musical ensembles of Bishop Hamilton and Archbishop Colloredo-Waldsee) up to the transformation of the musical ensemble into brass bands and the influence of military music at the time of Archbishop Trauttmannsdorf. The concept of the exhibition envisages the presentation of a part of the voluminous collection of music of Archduke Rudolf Johann (own compositions, a proof of his contact with his teacher of composition and piano L. van Beethoven – an original manuscript by Beethoven and his extensive collection activities – e.g. an original manuscript by W. A. Mozart). The exhibition will be complemented with selected contemporary musical instruments on loan from the Regional Museum in Olomouc.
