Goran Bregovic was born on 22. 3. 1950 in Sarajevo. His mother was a Serb, Croat father. At the conservatory studied violin, but in addition also mastered the guitar and bass. World fame brought him a collaboration with film director Emir Kusturica. In his youth, he played in several punk and rock bands, most popular of which became the band Bijelo dugme. His later work is based primarily on the Balkan Roma music, rock and electronic music and is often ranked the style world music, although it is actually a very unique and specific. Goran Bregovic is the most important Balkan musicians and composers.

With Emir Kusturica Bregovic is first encountered during film formation to hang House (1988), who had succeeded at Cannes. After the outbreak of civil war in Yugoslavia, both artists fled to the US where she shot a film Arizona Dream (1992), starring among others Johnny Depp. Subsequently Bregovic and Kusturica moved to Paris. In France Bregović composed music for more than 20 award-winning films such. Queen Margot (1994) and Underground (1995), which was filmed among others in Prague. In the French capital he lives and works today.

In 2011, he received the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary Award for lifetime contribution to film music. His plate is now one of the best-selling in France.
