Studovna discusses the importance of book references in the development of design practice.
The idea of the study in domestic architecture first appeared around the 15th century ; have a reading at that time was a sign of education and good taste . In study often had a representation of St. Jerome , the patron saint of librarians , scholars and students.
We contacted six authors and asked them to choose books that influenced their work. They were designers David Bennewith , Henk Groenendijk , Louise Hold Sidenius and Linda van Deursen , Koenraad Dedobbeleer artist and theorist Tom Vandeputte . In the exhibition are selected books placed next to a portrait of St. Jerome from the collection of the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
Selected publications are the basis for the upcoming acquisitions to the permanent collection of the library of the Moravian Gallery in Brno, which will be devoted entirely to graphic design and visual communication.
