Armand Mevis and Linda van Deursen , a pair of Dutch graphic designers awarded in 2012 the main prize Grand Prix of the Brno Biennial , will present this solo exhibition in the Museum of Applied Arts 's latest work of the 26th International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno 2014. Upon her preparation to them participated Swiss curator Moritz Küng .

Mevis & Van Deursen is primarily engaged in the cultural sector - work for museums , galleries , theaters , a publisher of art books or for other authors and graphic design in the Netherlands have a supreme position thanks to its innovative approach . See themselves more as authors or editors than as a service provider; it corresponds to the conceptual style of their work . Their provocative , controversial and widely discussed work Recollected Works, published in 2005 , is proof of that. In this memoir - layered collage of individual things overlap drench to each other and generally hinder rather understanding. Here appears a piece of the book cover , but it overlaps poster that is too big to fit inside ; over there again open a magazine , maybe upside down , peering out from beneath the gallery leaflet , a website that covers the back of the manual visual identity (Eye Magazine).

Their solo exhibition at the 26th Biennale Brno is the antithesis of this hasty approach. The curator Moritz Küng chosen together with the two designers just some of the latest works from their 28 years of cooperation and provides a summary of their work from the past four years , including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The decision to expose all the exhibits in traditional frames and add them monumentalizovanými labels is of course an exaggeration , intended as a sly reference to their specific clients and contexts . The irony installation method naturally calls into question the classical principles of exhibition making . Our Art exhibition title is a tribute sculpture other artistic duo Gilbert & George , and is therefore a more multifaceted expression of their creative processes.
